| Bio: | ![]() History: Lestat’s birthday is November 7, he is the seventh son of the Marquis de Auvergne, only four of the sons lived to see adulthood, Lestat being the youngest. His family was old even then, although his ancestors squandered the family money and left Lestat’s family in poverty. His mother, Gabrielle was the only literate one in the family, and one of the only one’s in the family who Lestat loved, his father was blind and spent his time angry at Lestat for wanting to do things out of his position. For when Lestat was younger he first wanted to be priest, he ran off to the Church, but was soon physically dragged back to his family’s home in The Auvergne by his two older brothers, his mother often fed his dreams, urging him to do things and make something of himself. When he was in his teens he ran off with a theatre troupe, he was entranced by the way actors moved on the stage and wanted so to be one, he spend months with the troupe until his brothers once again brought him home, this time locking him in his room for disobedience. When Lestat turned 19, by then he had taken up the mantle as the towns protector, a pack of wolves had been coming into the little village they resigned in and tearing apart herds of animals. Lestat went out after them with his horse and two greyhounds. He defeated the wolves, but lost both the dogs and his steed, nearly loosing his life. After that the town looked to him for protection, and he was gifted with a red cloak and boots made from the fur of the wolves he had slain out in the mountains. After all this he goes into a depression, his mother being one of the only ones who console him during this time, she gives him money and tell his to move to Paris. Lestat takes it, and prods his friend Nicholas, who’s father presented Lestat with the cloak, to join him, Nicholas played the violin, which made him a bit of an outsider to his father who found it a waste of time as Lestat’s father found his love of theatre a waste of time. The two comrades move to Paris, eventually both of them end up working at a theatre together, Lestat is 21. One night while on stage, Lestat is shocked to look out into the audience and see a man standing there with marble white skin, watching his every move. A single word runs through Lestat’s mind “Wolf Killer” frightened by this, Lestat chooses not to tell Nicholas for fear of scaring his friend. This man appears in the audience a couple of more times until one night, Nicholas and Lestat are in their apartment they share together, both end up getting drunk and Nicholas passes out. Lestat couldn’t sleep and sat up, he looks out the window and sees that very same man poised outside. The man breaks through the window and kidnaps Lestat. The man was the vampire Magnus, who turns Lestat into a vampire, hoping he will be his heir, then Magnus plunges himself into fire, leaving Lestat without any guidance in the world of the vampires. Lestat lives in the rundown castle Magnus took him to, he find a room behind a stone that can be accessed by a small, claustrophobic tunnel that led to a coffin and treasure chests full of jewels that Lestat decided was from Magnus’s victims. He finds out, a couple of years into his immortality that his mother has become ill with consumption. Lestat, scared to show her what he has become, follows her in the shadows, keeping a watchful eye on her, until one night he visits her, he can’t bear to see her die so he turns her into a vampire, the two become companions in the “Savage Garden” which is Lestat’s metaphor for the world. A coven of vampires take notice of the two, this coven is led by Armand, who believed vampires we’re created by God to serve Satan, he believed vampires should not coerce with mortals, or parade about as a mortal, Lestat and Gabrielle both did that. Armand, by reading Lestat’s mind, found out about how much he cared for Nicholas, he kidnapped Nicholas, using him to lure Lestat and Gabrielle underneath a Paris graveyard where the coven resided, he offered Lestat a chance to join them and he wouldn’t kill Nicholas, Lestat refused, lecturing Armand with his beliefs and causing Armand to go mad, Lestat rescued Nicholas, and changed him into a vampire. Lestat bought the theatre that him and Nicholas had worked at as mortals, he hired the old manager back and offered him more than before. In the meantime, in his madness, Armand started throwing his coven into a bonfire, his old beliefs torn apart by Lestat’ logic. A few escaped and went to Lestat, begging him for him to talk to Armand. Lestat went to Armand and convinced him to take over the Theatre with what was left of the coven, transforming the theatre into Theatre Des Vampyres. Gabrielle left Lestat to explore the world, Now alone since Nicholas chose to stay with the theatre, Lestat sailed to New Orleans. He immediately fell in love with the Louisiana town. He took it on as his own, here he found Louis, a plantation owner who wanted death, Lestat answered his call by turning him into a vampire. Louis became his companion, although Louis was flawed, he refused to drink from humans, which enraged Lestat, who had come to love Louis. They had an argument over Lestat killing two prostitutes and Louis ran off, Lestat found him feeding on a small girl, he confronted him and Louis ran off. Lestat found him and led him back to their home in The French Quarter, where Lestat had the girl waiting in the bedroom, her name was Claudia, and using her death to his advantage to keep Louis with him, Lestat changed the small child into a vampire. She immediately took to Louis, although Lestat taught her everything he knew, he treated her as a doll, dressing her up in ruffles and ribbons, buying everything she desired. Thirty years into Claudia’s immortality, she lashed out, feeling trapped in a 6 year olds body and blamed Lestat for it, she slit Lestat’s throat open on the rug in their apartment and her and Louis dumped his body in the Mississippi. Lestat survived, feeding off the alligators and “all the putrid life of the Mississippi” he returned to Claudia and Louis, only to get set aflame on accident by Louis Lestat lived through that as well, although very weakened, he goes to Armand in Paris, finding that Louis and Claudia are there he begs Armand to help him reconcile with them, Armand turns a deaf ear, and pushes him off of the top of a tower after burning Claudia alive and trapping Louis in a steel coffin. Lestat returns to New Orleans a broken vampire in 1985, he makes one fledgling and uses him to do his errands, the fledgling tries to get Lestat to feed, but he refuses, still mourning over Louis who he thinks is dead. He spends years reading book after book he could find, stacking them up in an old plantation. Here Louis finds him, Lestat begs him to stay but he doesn’t. With that Lestat burrows into the ground, sleeping there until a rock group called Satan’s Night Out awakens him with their rock music. Lestat is intrigued and decides to take the band under his wing, they rename the group The Vampire Lestat with Lestat as the lead vocalist. Lestat takes on the persona of a rock star, reminded of all those years ago when he was an actor in Paris after The French Revolution. He then gains the attention of a coven of young fledglings who wish to kill him for revealing their world to the mortals, Lestat also unwillingly grabs the attention of Akasha, The Queen of the Damned who has been asleep since Ancient Egypt. She starts a genocide of all the male mortals in the world, planning on populating the world with just females. She saves Lestat from the fledglings, deeming him her fellow God and taking him to a remote island in the Caribbean. The meanwhile, Maharet, a vampire as old as the Queen, has gotten all the ancients together with include Marius and Armand, as well as Marius’s lover Pandora, and Louis .They all plan to rescue Lestat from Akasha and kill her once and for all, even though killing her would mean no existence of vampires . Akasha confronts the gathered vampires at Maharet's compound. There she explains her plans and offers the vampires a chance to be her 'gods' in her New World Order. Akasha plans to kill 99 percent of the world's human men, and to establish a new Eden in which women will worship Akasha as a goddess. The vampires' refusal of her offer will result in their deaths. The vampires refuse to join her; but before Akasha can destroy them, Mekare enters, Maharets twin who is the same age,. Mekare kills Akasha by severing her head. Mekare then consumes Akasha's brain and heart, thereby saving the lives of the remaining vampires and becoming the new 'Queen of the Damned.' They leave, Lestat goes with Louis to David Talbot, an agent with the Talemasca who are secret agents who deal in the paranormal. Years pass and it is 1992, Lestat is still himself, The Brat Prince, James Bond of Vampires, , he starts noticing another man following him around, about the third time Lestat confronts him, the man just smiles at him and hands him an envelope then runs when Lestat start’s looking vicious. He reads the letter and it’s from a man who is offering Lestat a chance to switch bodies with him, become mortal again for a week After that he has gone into a state of depression, in a half-thought out suicide attempt in the Gobi Desert, he flees to David Talbot‘s house, who he has become friends with to heal, after he heals . Lestat finds the man who gave him the letter, who is Raglan James, he tells Lestat he can switch bodies with anyone, to demonstrate Raglan goes into Lestat’s body with him, Lestat throws him back out, not knowing he could, he leaves, telling Raglan he’ll think about it. Lestat asks David and the other vampires about it, they are against it, not knowing if this Raglan character would give Lestat back his body after the time spent. Lestat, as usual, goes against their wishes and does it anyway. He goes to Raglan at an abandoned house in the middle of winter, Unfortunately, Raglan has no intention of ever switching back, and Lestat is forced to scheme to regain his body. Lestat nearly dies after becoming human again - his new body is wracked by pneumonia, which he ignores during a tour of Washington D.C. in the middle of winter. He is saved by the care of a nun named Gretchen. He enjoys a short love affair with Gretchen before she returns to South America, where she works in a convent, and Lestat sets out in search of his body.Lestat seeks help from other vampires but is completely ostracized by them. Marius is extremely angry at him for leaving such a powerful body to a thief and refuses to help him. Likewise Louis turns him away when he asks Louis to make his new body into a vampire, arguing that Lestat ought to be happy to be human again and also calls him out on his previous writings, accusing him of altering his actual past in favour of one that portrays him heroically. Lestat's only ally is David Talbot, he goes to David, who knows of Raglan who used to work for the Talemasca as a psychic, but he was thrown out for trying to steal things, he ended up in prison where he got cancer and tricked a psychotic in an asylum into switching bodies with him. Lestat finally regains his body on a cruise liner, where Raglan ,with his sloppy display of thievery and blood draining, was followed by Lestat and David, Lestat flees right at sunrise to the storage on the cruise line, when he wakes he finds both David and Raglan gone. He follows David’s scent to a bungalow on the beach, David informs him he wants to become a vampire, Lestat obliges and begins to change him ,as he does he reads David’s thoughts and finds that it’s actually Raglan in David’s body, he throws him backwards, crushing his skull and killing Raglan in David’s body. He then finds the real David, and his evil nature kicks in and changes him into a vampire without his consent. David ends up going the route Louis took, leaving Lestat like Louis did, claiming he isn’t angry with him he just wants to go his own way as a vampire. The following year After stalking and killing Roger, a ruthless but enthrallingly passionate mobster, Lestat is approached by his ghost. At the same time, he is becoming increasingly paranoid that he's being followed by the Devil himself, and he is growing interested in Roger's daughter Dora, a devout and popular television evangelist, whom he wants to spare from embarrassment. Lestat and his companions try to protect her "church" from the fact that her father was a killer. Eventually, Lestat meets the Devil, who calls himself "Memnoch". He takes Lestat on a whirlwind tour of Heaven, Hell, and the main epochs in the evolution of the universe. The tour offers a retelling of the entirety of biblical history from the devil's point of view in an effort by Memnoch to convince Lestat to join him in a noble quest. In his journey, Memnoch claims he is not evil but merely working for God by ushering lost souls into Heaven. Lestat is left in confusion, unable to decide whether or not to cast his lot with the Devil. souls into Heaven. Lestat is left in confusion, unable to decide whether or not to cast his lot with the Devil. After the tour, Lestat believes himself to have had a major revelation. Among other things, he believes that he has seen Christ's crucifixion and that he has received Veronica's Veil; he has also lost an eye in Hell. He tells his story to Armand, David, and Dora, who have joined him in New York. Dora and Armand are deeply affected upon seeing the veil; Dora takes it and reveals it to the world, and Armand goes into the sun in order to convince people that a miracle has occurred. At the end of the novel, Lestat and David go to New Orleans. There, Maharet returns Lestat's eye to him along with a note from Memnoch. This note reveals that Memnoch may have been manipulating Lestat to serve his own agenda. Lestat then loses control of himself and Maharet is forced to chain him in the basement of the St. Elizabeth's convent, which is owned by the vampires, so that he will not hurt himself or others. When he is at last released, Lestat enters a prolonged coma on the floor of St. Elizabeth's. He is awoken by Sybele, one of Armand's human companion's playing of the Appassionata, and requests she plays it again. He is later attended to by Louis and David Talbot, who after Louis has a run in with Claudia's spirit, go to Merrick Mayfair to bring back Claudia's ghost for Louis. After the failed attempt Louis attempts suicide but is found by Lestat who states he knew he'd do it one day and is brought back by Lestat, David, and Merrick who Louis had turned into a vampire shortly before the bouched suicide attempted.Because Lestat (along with Louis) have given Merrick their blood, the Talamasca Elders threaten to wage war on the vampires. David Talbot tries to placate them with a final letter, warning that Lestat's enmity is more than the Watcher society could handle. He writes, "You have made yourselves an interesting adversary to one who loves challenges, and it will require all of my considerable influence to protect you individually and collectively from the avid lust you have so foolishly aroused." Lestat ventures to Blackwood Farm, after being asked by Tarquin Blackwood to help him with a doppleganger named Goblin who is draining Quinn of his blood each time he feeds.Lestat reluctantly agree's to help him. Quinn tells Lestat of how he became a vampire and everything that had happened between now and then. His stories allow Lestat to better understand the reach and power of Goblin, who continues to haunt Tarquin. Lestat also discovers that Tarquin is connected to the Mayfair clan of witches, which also makes New Orleans its home. This information, combined with his failure to defeat Goblin, forces Lestat to request aid from Merrick. Merrick, a powerful Mayfair witch-turned-vampire, agrees to help. It is revealed that the now-bloodthirsty Goblin, who looks exactly like Tarquin, is in fact a baby boy's spirit — the spirit of Tarquin's twin brother, who died only days after being born. The child did not leave this world; he is bound to Tarquin and is relentlessly jealous to experience what Tarquin does. Merrick fashions a ritual, using the corpse of the dead twin, to exorcise Goblin. During the ceremony, Merrick joins herself with the flame and the corpse. She carries her spirit and that of the child to the Light and perishes. Lestat is bereft of Merrick, whom he adored; but he now has Quinn, a new vampire to cherish. Blood Canticle (as described on Wikipedia): Centered in New Orleans, Blood Canticle is narrated by Lestat. The protagonist is a young Mayfair witch named Mona. At the beginning of the novel Mona is wasting away, victim to a mysterious disease brought on by the birth of her daughter, a so-called Walking Baby. As the novel plays out, Mona and her guardian, Rowan Mayfair, the current designee of the Mayfair legacy, reveal more and more about the powerful genetic plague that has haunted the Mayfairs for generations: the Taltos. In what she believes to be her dying hour, Mona - highly romantic in nature - buys quantities of roses and takes them to the house of her lover, Tarquin "Quinn" Blackwood, who is a vampire and a dear companion to Lestat. She lays the roses on his bed, intending to spend her final moments here. So that she does not die from the massive decline that her body has undergone, Lestat makes her into a vampire. He does this largely to satisfy Quinn, who could never again hear the thoughts of Mona if he were to do it himself. When trying to prevent Mona's family from discovering her transformation, Lestat unwillingly falls in love with Rowan Mayfair. Secretly, she pines for him as well. Lestat's blood is powerful; Mona learns this quickly and discovers that she can easily dispatch inferior vampires with the powerful gifts that Lestat's potent blood has bestowed upon her. Now her renewed vigor and her anger about her situation with Rowan and their shared secret of the Taltos causes her to lash out verbally at Rowan and Rowan's husband Michael. As she struggles with herself, Lestat and Quinn, she learns her place in her new world. As she learns, Lestat pledges to find her Taltos child if it still lives. For this, Lestat enlists the help of Maharet. In a very short time, Maharet provides critical information for their search. The story comes to a dramatic conclusion as Mona, journeying with Quinn and Lestat, comes to the remote island where the Taltos live. But instead of finding a secluded paradise, the three vampires learn about years of intrigue and civil war among this isolated race of beings. In the end, the remaining Taltos join the Mayfair clan at the medical center in New Orleans, where they can be safe, learn, and be together as a family. Mona and Quinn are again together and will remain so, presumably without the companionship of Lestat. Rowan Mayfair seeks out Lestat, half in love with him and exhausted by her life, requesting that he perform the Dark Trick. Lestat declines, pained as he is, because she is a guiding force for the Mayfair family and he cannot take her away from it. | |||||||||
